Advisory Board – Jean-Pierre MORAND
Introduction
Mr. Jean-Pierre Morand majored in law at the University of St-Gallen, Switzerland, passed the Geneva Bar exam and became a lawyer in 1986. He is specialized in corporate and sports commercial law and acts as a counsel for international sporting federations. His fields of work include: sports & media law, international arbitration, commercial, corporate, and intellectual property law.
Being a senior partner at Kellerhals-Carrard, one of the world’s leading international sports law firms, Mr. Morand holds a leading position in the field of International Sports Law. In addition, he is also chairman and board member of Swiss companies in other fields such as consumer goods, energy, and tourism. He chaired a listed lift company from 2000 to 2015 and is the delegate of the board of Distillerie Morand a renowned family-owned spirit and sirup maker.
Career
After graduating, in 1984, Mr. Morand joined Baker & McKenzie in New York and Geneva, one of the largest law firms in the world. In 1988, he became legal director and then deputy director of a sports marketing agency, Marc Biver Développement SA, which became IMG Switzerland in 1993.
In 1995, Mr. Morand opened his own independent law firm and co-founded Legrand, Morand & Partners in 1997. Mr. Morand joined Kellerhals-Carrard as a partner in 2009. He is a board member of ASA, the Swiss Arbitration Association.
