自1990年以来的主要热门歌曲有:“For Your Babies”,“Fairground”,“Say You Love Me”。

Tom Peter Odell(1990年11月24日出生)是英国的创作型歌手。
他的第四张专辑《monsters》于2021年7月9日发行,而第五张专辑《Best Day Of My Life》则于次年的10月28日发行。
Tom Odell
Tom Odell

The Montreux Jazz Festival. The best place for timeless jazz combined with world music
Every year for 56 years, in the first half of July, the small town of Montreux on the shores of Lake Geneva has hosted what is probably the most famous jazz festival in the world - the Montreux Jazz Festival! Nestled between Lake Geneva and the Alps, a stone's throw from the (world heritage) Lavaux vineyards, the Festival benefits from an exceptional lakeside setting. Every year many artists are extending their stay in Montreux to enjoy the regio.
History
The first Montreux Jazz Festival opened on 18 June 1967 and was founded by three gentlemen, Claude Nobs, Géo Voumard and René Langel, with the support of Ahmet and Nesuhi Ertegun of famous Atlantic Records. The festival was initially held at the Montreux Casino. From the beginning, the founders worked closely with the Montreux tourist office. The plan was to invite well-known and famous jazz musicians for three days of concerts. Thanks to their connections, they had access to world-famous jazz musicians such as Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette, Bill Evans, Soft Machine, Weather Report, Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald.
Originally a pure jazz festival, it opened up in the course of its first ten years of existence and now presents artists from various musical genres. Jazz, however, remains an important part of the festival. In the early 90s, the famous musician Quincy Jones brought many international artists to Montreux. The festival gained its worldwide reputation and decided to extend the festival from three to ten days. Today, the festival lasts about sixteen days and attracts more than 250,000 visitors every year. Most concerts are sold out after only a few hours of ticket sales.
From the mid-70s, the programme was expanded and famous blues, soul and rock artists were invited, including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Deep Purple and many others. Towards the end of the decade, the festival expanded even further to include music from every continent (with an emphasis on Brazilian music) and lasted a full three weeks. Santana came to Montreux for the first time in 1970, Van Morrison performed in 1974 and 1980. Other artists such as David Bowie, Elton John, Leonard Cohen, Queen, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gary Moore, Weather Report, Chuck Berry, Peter Tosh, Eric Clapton, Stan Getz, Airto Moreira, Oscar Peterson, Ney Matogrosso, Gilberto Gil, Ray Charles, Toto, Zucchero Fornaciari, Status Quo, Prince – and more recently Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Adele, Lady Gaga and many more have been and are still on the festival stage.
In 2013, the charismatic founder Steve Nobs passed away and his partner Mathieu Jaton took over the annual organisation.
Festival location
The festival was originally held in the famous Montreux Casino, which burned down in December 1971 during a performance by Frank Zappa (as mentioned in the famous song "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple). The festival was then held in other halls in Montreux until it was able to return to the rebuilt new casino in 1975. The festival continued to grow, and in 1993 it moved to the larger Montreux Convention Centre. From 1995 to 2008, it occupied both the convention centre and the casino. Since the 41st MJF in 2007, the evening performances of the big stars have been moved back mainly to the Montreux Musique & Convention Centre (although the Casino continues to host individual shows), mainly for logistical reasons: The Casino is about a kilometer away from the Convention Centre, which makes it difficult for the crew, artists and technical staff (as well as fans) to get from one venue to the other through the crowded streets. This is also due to the fact that parallel to the concerts, numerous street vendors (food trucks, bars, merchandisers and artisans) - as well as strolling crowds of tourists - populate the waterfront that connects the venues. Since 2007, the convention centre has hosted two main stages, the Auditorium Stravinski (capacity 3,500) and the Miles Davis Hall (capacity 1,800), as well as the smaller Montreux Jazz Cafe and several smaller open-air stages around the centre. Other thematic events (Bahia, Blues, etc.) are also held on boats on the lake, and various workshops and competitions are held at the nearby Montreux Palais and Le Petit Palais.
Today, the Montreux Jazz Festival has become an unmissable event, generating stories and legendary performances. Over 150 world-renowned stars have recorded and released the live concerts in Montreux, including Alice Cooper, Carlos Santana, Chick Corea, Deep Purple (even three concerts), Ella Fitzgerald, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Oscar Peterson, Peter Tosh, Ray Charles, Simply Red, Talk Talk, TT Top and many more.
As a platform for encounters and creative freedom, the Montreux Jazz Festival is a unique playground for artists. Some famous singers completely rethink their concerts for Montreux (often adding a little "jazzy" touch to their performances to "honor the Montreux jazz spirit"), others shine at the festival's legendary Jam Sessions or offer exciting workshops for young musicians.
With its ambitious programming, its musical diversity and its hospitality, the Montreux Jazz Festival offers a privileged setting in the heart of Europe and Switzerland for artists and audiences alike.
The Festival in figures
250,000 festival-goers
16 days of Festival, always early July
about 380 concerts, including 250 free
11 scenes, 6 of which are free
55 food stalls and bars
The festival’s founder Claude Nobs, a true visionary, decided from the beginning to meticulously record all the concerts of the Festival. Under the auspices of the "Claude Nobs Foundation", this unique collection of audiovisual archives was included in the UNESCO "Memory of the World" register. In collaboration with the EPFL (private university of Lausanne), this archive of more than 11,000 hours of live music has been fully digitized since 2017.
Since 1967, the Jazz Festival has given Swiss and international artists the opportunity to design the official poster. Jean Tinguely left his indelible mark in 1982, which has become the unmistakable logo. Keith Haring created a variation of three posters for the Festival in 1983, then a four-handed work with Andy Warhol in 1986. The artists Niki De Saint Phalle , David Bowie , Max Bill and Yoann Lemoine (Woodkid) have also left their imprint on the Festival's visual universe.
Due to its success, the Montreux Jazz Festival has existed for more than fifty years, with a similar atmosphere in various cities around the world. São Paulo, Detroit, Atlanta, Singapore, Monaco and today Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Hangzhou (next one in September 2023) have all hosted one or more editions of the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Why Montreux - What to expect as a visitor of Montreux beyond the concert:
Between lake, mountains and vineyards, the Montreux Riviera looks like a postcard landscape. An authentic little piece of Swiss paradise that has seduced numerous artists, writers and travelers in search of beauty, tranquillity and inspiration. It is surely no coincidence that Charlie Chaplin spent the last 25 years of his life above Vevey, Freddie Mercury (QUEEN) immortalised Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps on the booklet of the album "Made in Heaven", Igor Stravinsky composed "The Sacrifice of Spring" in Montreux and Prince confessed his love for Lavaux in a song bearing the name of the famous wine terraces included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Visitors to a concert usually arrive well in advance. In addition to the famous lake promenade and the hinterland with vineyards, the impressive castle Chillon and many excursion destinations, Montreux also offers an all-day festival programme - for 16 days! Free concerts take place everywhere, in cafés, in parks and on smaller stages in the city - plus a wide range of international food and drink, a feast for all the senses, day and night, for 16 days.
Arriving in Montreux for a concert experience
The town has long been popular with celebrity musicians and writers, including Tchaikovski, Stravinski, Byron, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, and--more recently--Vladimir Nabokov, who spent the last two decades of his life at Le Montreux Palace after his novel "Lolita" earned international success in the mid-1950s. And what luck to actually obtain one of the treasured tickets for a Montreux Jazz Festival concert!
But what is the best way to organise your Montreux experience?
It's worth arriving early, because the day itself in Montreux is an experience. If you arrive by car, it's best to leave it at the hotel because parking in Montreux is a challenge in itself. If you arrive by train, everything is within walking distance. Leave your luggage at the hotel, dress casually and blend in the crowd….you will sense and smell the festival atmosphere everywhere. There are small concerts in the parks, I many cafés and on the lake promenade, informal, free and often spontaneous.
Sometimes you see a "star" walking along and enjoying the atmosphere - or is he / she on his / her way to a last rehearsal?
On Friday 30 June 2023 the opening concert will take place - and this year again with a star cast! Simply Red and Tom Odell will both do the honours in one concert.
The British band “Simply Red” was formed in 1985 by singer Mick "Red" Hucknall (born Michael James Hucknall, 8 June 1960) together with bassist Tony Bowers, drummer Chris Joyce, and keyboardist/brass player Tim Kellett plus guitarist Sylvan Richardson and keyboardist Fritz McIntyre. Mr. Hucknall – original playing in a punk rock band - added over the years a number of instrumentalists, most with Manchester links, to shape a soul inspired combo that would initially present itself as a democratic sextet in which all members would have a say. Their music style is categorized as "Soul & Pop" but their songs include often other elements such as Jazz and "R&B" moments. The band's career peaked in late 1991 with the release of "Stars", which became the best-selling album for two years running in Europe and the UK. The album spun off five top 40 singles in Europe, and the singles "Something Got Me Started" and "Stars" were also significant chart hits throughout all of North America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Major hit songs since 1990: "For Your Babies", "Fairground", "Say You Love Me". Today Simply Red are known globally. Further interesting details on http://www.simplyred.com/.
Tom Peter Odell (born 24 November 1990) is an English singer-songwriter. He released his debut extended play, Songs from Another Love, in 2012. It won the BRITs Critics' Choice Award in early 2013. Odell's debut studio album, Long Way Down, was issued on 24 June 2013 and marked that beginning of his international career. "Another Love" conquered high positions in many charts all over the world. His fourth album “monsters”, was released on 9 July 2021, while his fifth album, "Best Day Of My Life', was released the next year, on 28 October 2022. Tom Odell was born in West Sussex, England. He spent part of his childhood living in Auckland. He was educated at Seaford College but also recalls attending school in New Zealand before moving to York (GB) for his studies. Throughout his school years, Odell wrote songs in a band that had trouble maintaining a lead singer. This trouble inspired him to start singing the songs he wrote, and Odell says he "sang the songs how he wanted them to sound" rather than worrying about someone else not bringing his vision to life. Odell has said his lyrics are inspired by his "inability to sustain a relationship with someone for longer than six months." He studied at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) in Brighton playing as part of the band "Tom & the Tides" before moving to London where he decided to become a solo artist because he" didn't want to have to rely on people". Tom Odell's musical style is very varied. As he writes all his songs himself, he likes to experiment with different styles and doesn't like to stick to one category - this is what makes his life concerts exciting, as they are unconventional and often unexpected.
